Legends, happy to be back!
Slightly different format, but that’s ok. It is for the better.
Which brings me to my first point.
Pivoting is apart of the process, and it is refining your process that will get you closer to the destination.
I was out of ideas. SO, it made much more sense to make the Digging Deep newsletter about teaching my subscribers the useful things I learn every week.
Here is a great quote from Seneca:
If one does not know which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.
-Seneca
Now that the ship is smooth sailing, let’s get to it.
Network States 🌍
This week I read “The Network State: How To Start a New Country” by Balaji Srinivasan.
Fascinating concepts, but the big takeaway is the fact the possibility to an alternative sort of country is out there.
And it’s technological basis is the blockchain.
Srinivasan actually puts the idea into a one sentence format which I will write below:
A network state is a social network with a moral innovation, a sense of national consciousness, a recognized founder, a capacity for collective action, an in-person level of civility, an integrated cryptocurrency, a consensual government limited by a social smart contract, an archipelago of crowdfunded physical territories, a virtual capital, and an on-chain census that proves a large enough population, income, and real-estate footprint to attain a measure of diplomatic recognition.
A Network State is built from the bottom-up as opposed to top-down. It gives people an ability to opt-in to a society started on One Commandment.
When the United States was founded, everyone believed in God.
A Network State can be a group of people who believe in the keto diet and want to grow the community by following the guidelines of a Network State above.
This leaves room economic growth and innovation to be supercharged.
If everyone is working on their passion project, is that not a good thing?
My Favorite Quote:
“In short, once we see that a tech founder builds a startup company to effect economic change, and a political activist builds a social movement to effect moral change, we can see how the startup societes we describe in this work combine aspects of both”
- Balaji Srinivasan
Hofstader’s Law ⌛️
In an Instagram clip, Stoic writer Ryan Holiday was asked what piece of advice he would give his younger self.
His answer: Things will take longer than you think.
This is Hofstader’s Law.
Time estimates for how long a project will take always fall short of how long it actually takes.
He mentions that when he put out his book “The Obstacle Is The Way” it took 6 years for it to get recognition.
This is true for anything, it has taken me 5 years to get pretty strong in the gym, and in reality I thought I would be a badass after 1 month.
Account for the extra time your project will take.
Live Life Like A Kid 👦🏼
Not everything I learn is a super detailed historical lesson or a piece of science.
Sometimes it is just a simple reminder about life.
I was listening to Post Malone on the Joe Rogan Experience and Posty said:
“The goal of life is to be a kid forever”
This hit, because it was indicative of their 5 hour conversation.
They were being kids. Enjoying their time talking about silly topics and exploring each others imagination and creativity.
Put yourself in positions where you feel like a kid. It makes life more fun.

I will leave you with this tip:
Buy a sleep mask. If you want to improve your sleep, I highly recommend it. You will be pleasantly surprised what darkness does for you.
Stay learning
